This policy explains how the Cartouche app for iPhone and iPad ("Cartouche", "we", "us") handles information. Cartouche is built by Pidugu, an independent software studio, and is distributed through the Apple App Store.
The short version: Cartouche does not collect your personal information. There are no accounts, no ads, and no tracking. Your photos are read and framed entirely on your device — they never leave it — and the app works fully offline.
Information we collect
We designed Cartouche to need as little as possible. We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell any personal information about you. Cartouche does not contain any analytics, advertising, or tracking technology.
Stored on your device only — never sent to us
- The framed photos you create (your library), kept in the app's own on-device storage.
- Your preferences — last-used theme and aspect ratio, your default @handle, and export format.
This information lives in your device's local storage. It never leaves your iPhone or iPad, and we cannot see it. Deleting the app removes it.
Your photos
When you choose a photo to frame, Cartouche reads that image and the technical metadata (EXIF) already stored in it — such as the camera model, lens, focal length, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and capture date — so it can build the frame and caption. All of this happens on your device. Your photo and its metadata are never uploaded to us or to anyone else.
You choose which photos to open using Apple's standard photo picker, which only shares the specific photos you select. When you export, Cartouche can save the finished framed image back to your photo library — but only the image you created, and only after you grant permission. We never read, scan, browse, or upload your existing photo library.
Network & offline use
Cartouche does its work entirely on your device and does not require an internet connection. The app does not run a server, does not phone home, and does not send your photos or any usage data anywhere.
Purchases
Cartouche is currently free, with no in-app purchases. If we add optional paid features in the future, they will be sold through Apple's in-app purchase system — Apple handles the entire transaction and we would never see your name, card, or billing details. We will update this policy before introducing any such feature.
Analytics & tracking
There are none. Cartouche contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising, no third-party trackers, and no device identifiers used for tracking. We do not build a profile of you across apps or websites.
Third parties
We rely on a single service to distribute the app, and it does not receive personal information about you:
- Apple — App Store distribution (and, if we ever add them, in-app purchases).
We do not share information with advertisers, data brokers, or analytics services, because we don't collect it in the first place.
Children's privacy
Cartouche is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13. If you have any concern, please contact us.
Your rights
Because we don't collect personal information that can identify you, there is nothing for us to look up, export, correct, or delete on your behalf. Everything you create in the app stays on your device, and you can remove it at any time by deleting the app. If you believe we hold personal information about you and wish to exercise rights under the GDPR, CCPA, or another privacy law, email us and we'll respond promptly.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll post the new version here and change the effective date above. We won't reduce the protections described here without making the change clear.
